Dow 995 Structural Silicone Sealant - 20 Fluid Ounce Sausage

Dow 995 (formerly Dow Corning 995) silicone structural sealant features excellent one-component, self-primed, shelf-stable, neutral cure elastomeric adhesion to most common building substrates which includes glass, reflective glass, anodized and painted aluminum, granite, and a variety of paints including most of those that are fluoropolymer-based. Dow 995 silicone structural caulk offers a 20-year performance warranty that is available. Dow 995 silicone structural caulk cures to an extremely tough elastomeric rubber, with movement capability of ±50%. Structural applications require prior testing and written print review by Dow. Dow 995 silicone structural caulk is also the approved adhesive component of the unique 3M Ultraflex Window System which incorporates 3M Scotchshield Ultra Safety and Security Window Film as a new dimension in window film technology for property and personal protection against crime, weather extremes, explosions, earthquakes, and even accidents.

Limitations 

Dow 995 Silicone Structural Sealant should not be applied:

• To building materials that bleed oils, plasticizers, or solvents– materials such as impregnated wood, oil-based caulks, green or partially vulcanized rubber gaskets or tapes
• In totally confined spaces as the sealant requires atmospheric moisture for cure
• When surface temperatures exceed 140°F
• Where painting of the sealant is required, as the paint film may crack and peel
• To surfaces in contact with food, this sealant does not comply with Federal Food and Drug Administration food-additive regulations
• In below-grade applications
• For use as an interior penetration fire stop sealing system
• In horizontal floor joints where abrasion and physical abuse are likely to be encountered
• To frost-laden or damp surfaces
• For continuous immersion in water
