Tremco Acoustical/Curtainwall Sealant is a single component, non-skinning, non-hardening synthetic rubber sealant with no primer needed. The application of Tremco Acoustical/Curtainwall Sealant greatly increases the Sound Transmission Class (STC value) of a system and reduces the decibel level when one or more beads are applied to a joint. Coverage of this acoustical sealant is 27 linear feet of joint per quart cartridge for 1/4” x 1/4” joints. Do not apply to damp or contaminated surfaces. It is also highly recommended that adequate ventilation is present during the application period. For proper adhesion, the joint interface must be clean and dry. Any surface damage, dirt, dust, loose particles or other contaminants which may inhibit adhesion will need to be removed from the surfaces prior to the application of this sealant. Tremco Acoustical/Curtainwall Sealant is used in the design and construction of drywall partitions between individual residential units and along corridor walls. In the application, the sealant must inhibit air movement and buffer vibration, both of which contribute to sound transmission. Tremco Acoustical/Curtainwall Sealant is very easy to apply with quart size caulking equipment. Just apply the bead onto the substrate and cover within 24 hours to prevent dirt attraction that may inhibit adhesion ability. Tremco Acoustical/Curtainwall Sealant does not cure or dry. It is a nonskinning, non-hardening formula that will remain viscous and tacky to further aid in decreasing sound transmission. Excess sealant and smears by the joint interface can be carefully removed with xylene or mineral spirits. Any utensils used for tooling can also be cleaned with xylene or mineral spirits. Take extra caution when working with xylene since it is classified as a hazardous material.
